I make this confession, this does not mean Marvel movies are bad in their own right, they're just not my thing. Granted I did like Guardians of The Galaxy but that's beside the point. Why am I bringing this up?

Because of Deadpool! FUCKING DEADPOOL! I fucking loved Deadpool! In this day and age of Marvel movies, Deadpool did something completely different. Tonally, the film is a fucking rollercoaster. It has horrifically gruesome and violent scenes that certainly make it earn its R rating, but it also plays so loose and wacky with its humor to almost Looney Tune levels, but the shift between extreme darkness and extreme cartooniness never feels jarring, it all fits together because the movie never takes itself TOO seriously! The movie is almost like a self-aware parody of Marvel movies that just happens to be set in the X-Men universe, because the movie still utilizes all the Marvel tropes but makes jokes out of them. :giggle: And Ryan Reynolds? Jesus Christ, Ryan Reynolds was absolutely perfect in this role! He imbues the character with exactly the right level of zaniness and snarkiness that was basically required for Deadpool, and both his physical performance and his line delivery totally compliment the character's humor! You can just tell he is having so much fun with the role. This whole movie is basically like a super gory R rated Bugs Bunny cartoon, to the point where this is probably what The Mask would have been like had it been more faithful to the original comics. With the sheer level of both darkness and wackiness that this movie has to offer in both its over the top action, and its visual gags, this whole movie was right up my alley, and honestly, I really can't wait for the sequel. I really wanna see the sequel and how much looser and wackier it'll play with the jokes and how much further it can take this already out there character.

And now for the real reason I made this journal. All of you are probably wondering about me and what was basically my announcement of depression (I have no idea if I actually have the disorder or not so I hope I didn't offend anybody with depression). Basically, I felt like I was on creative burnout, I felt a lack of enthusiasm to do anything, especially on deviantArt which itself has been losing my enthusiasm more and more, and I've basically been quietly going nowhere with this account and all other accounts. I just wanna say, I'm not completely out of my funk yet. I'll still talk to my friends but I don't know at the moment if I'll be keeping deviantArt as my main domain to do what I want in terms of art and animation and such. I'm thinking about a different direction to take the things I wanna do, but I don't know just yet, I'll need a long time to think on it, maybe the whole year. But I will say, Deadpool came at just the right time in my life, seeing it in this dark stress induced period put me in a much better mood, it might be the starting point to me getting out of my funk, and is making me think about the better place I might decide to take my life. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Pretty much, among other things that the movie shamefully stole from.

Though I'm a bit surprised that Seth Rogen and pals didn't take Food Fighters and turn it into a hard-R war film, a la Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, Flags of Our Fathers, Fury and so on.

Heh... And somehow, this is still cute and engaging than the Smurfs movies, the Garfield movies, the Chipmunks movies, the Scooby-Doo movies, the Yogi Bear movie, the Marmaduke movie and the Underdog movie combined.

Not to mention that their designs from the games are still intact, not altered or deformed. This is why Sponge of Water succeeded while the others did not, they made the characters appealing to the eyes.

Furthermore, call me crazy... But I can totally see Wes Anderson or Laika doing a Pikmin movie. I mean hey, if they both do movies about a fox stealing food from some farmers, button eyed demons, zombies being mistreated, trolls wearing boxes and a young guitar player fighting monsters out of Japanese folklore, surely they can do a movie about an astronaut employee trying to repair his damaged rocket ship with the help from some tiny plant-like creatures, while also fending off some bigger and meaner creatures that want to eat him. And yes, that is the plot of the first game. Gotta love video games.
